The late afternoon sampling is the third set of numbers. I am going to bracket my evening meal but I don't know how often or how long I will do this.

N/A I had a large lunch and then ate dinner at the Boot Hill Museum. While up to the recent past I would not have thought my meal large, I do now! After the Boot Hill Meal we came home and had a piece of chocolate birthday cake each. I had a small amount of home made vinallia ice creamme. This is likely the first and last time I made this...

I sternly told it "you are not getting more!"

trip We went to the 2021 District Convention in Topeka and left there on Sunday the
6th to drive out to Eugene Oregon. I had hoped to make contact with Jim's daughter
Cortney that we might spend time with that branch of the Bells. I never got a
reply to my email and she never called or texted. I guess we really have been
     disowned...

oh shit I forgot to take my pills with me to work, hence the 195. After taking my pills, I tested again

2 hours later and scored 126. Yeah!

sigh I had a nice salad for lunch and 3 hard boiled eggs for "dinner". It is hard to believe my blood sugar would be this high!

Update on my T2D Diabetics

I had a very mild case of covid-19 in early March 2020. This was before tests were available. I had a cough and was bringing up crap. I was scheduled for a TURP (prostate operation) on 10 March 2020. The RNs were concerned. However, the Surgeon (Urologist) was not and the planned surgery went as planned.

A week later, my Surgeon told me "when I removed most of your prostate, I removed most of your prostate cancer."  Lovely, just fucking lovely!

A couple of month later, my wife told me "you look like you are losing weight!"

I had a MD meeting in July 2020 and it turned out my A1C had dropped from 7.8 to 6.4. My weight had dropped from 288 pounds to 244. Wow!

Now, I was really fearing my prostate cancer had spread.  This notion ignored the fact that being stuck in the house and loss of appetite, and sense of taste and sense of smell and pure boredom with the food we were eating lead to me rather naturally losing weight.

As of yesterday, my weight was 234 pounds or a lose of 54 pounds since early March 2020!

Sadly, my A1C went up to 7.8. My MD asked me yesterday "Why did this go up?"

I replied "you took me off a diabetic medication and I think this lead to the increase." He could not argue and put me on 1000 mg Metformin in the evening. He mentioned this could cause stomach upset.

Well, I don't think so! I have been taking metformin since 10 May 2004 or about 17 years and 10 days. I got over the metformin induced shits many years ago!

Well, it is 8:08 PM of the day I wrote the above material and the metformin is hanging fire. I'll check this in a couple of days to see if the metformin order finally comes through.

@ I started taking 1000mg Metormin in the evening. However, we also went to the Casino for the first time since January 2020 and I had a loaded potatoe, chocolate cake and ice creamme. This clearly jacked my blood sugar. Also, it takes a while for more metformin to kick in...

% In mid morning, I was feeling awful and wondered if I had low blood sugar. I tested and found I did not.

Merde It turned out I forgot to take my fucking evening pills. Merde!

30I started with severe stomack pain last night after dinner. I thought it might have been faty steak and it may have been. After a while, I had to wander back to the bathroom and vomit a bit. I vomited twice more after going to bed, This weak, low volume, vomiting was not doing much to ease my pain.

I decided I needed "working fluids" so I went to the kitchen and drank a couple of large glasses of water. I went back to bed and a voice in my head said "vomit in the toilet or in bed, your choice!" I trundled into the bathroom and vomited a lot I then went back to bed with the stomach pains gone.

This morning I still feel crappy. I feel "puny" to use Kathie's expression.

v Decades ago, I had the combination of bad food choices and reactions to my early diabetics medications,. "V" stands for ''

"Vomito Ergo Sum"
"I vomit, therefore I am".

* I was so busy fixing dinner the night before I forgot to take my evening pills.

6 I woke up feeling horrible. I felt weak.  It was hard to get out of bed. So, I thought it must be hypoglycemic and I tested my blood sugar. I was surprised to find it was 135!

It would appear that as covid-19 diminishes in terror for me, my old bugaboos are coming back center state to fuck with me.

Even after a 2 egg and half slice sour dough bread breakfast I still feel ill.

13  We normally test on Mondays but we were in Wichita. We had rich diners and to much to drink the evening of Sunday and this would have screwed up our morning test results. So we deferred out testing until Tuesday and I wonder if it made a damned bit of difference!.

14 I wondered how last night's dinner would affect me; I was shocked!

19 This was a good day!

A1C My meter and test stripe supplier has asked me I'd like an A1C test kit. I said "yes". There is no telling how long it will take for this test gear to get here...

26 I have not a happy camper due this number. I had better check my evening drugs...

27 After last night's high of 174, I felt the need to check this morning. It is somewhat better.

28 I felt hungry from after about 3 am and waited to see if I was hypoglycemic; sadly, I was not.

314My MD ended my evening glipizide pills and my morning scores have gone up. I suppose this is a "good" thing but I rather liked being just above hypoglycemia.

* I felt sick at dinner last night and recovered overnight. Given how little I ate last night, 141 is ridiceous.

AM 129 PM 88

31 In November, my GP told me my A1C had gone from 7.6 in November 2019 to 6.7 in July 2020 and 6.3 in November 2020. I was taking Synjardy XR 10-1000 mg tab and a glibizide 10 mg tab in the morning. He had me double up the Synjardy in the morning and delete the giobizide.

Several weeks ago, I dropped one of the Synjardy and gave myself permission to take the glibizide in the evening.

So, my scores were 128 in the morning and 88 this evening.

I suppose I could worry about morning hypoglycemia and not waking up. This is a pointless fear as the “morning bloom” has always woke me up.

Monday, November 16, 2020

I had my medical appointment today. It was very good!

My weight was 249.6 and the lowest it has been in decades. I never really expected to have my weight go below 250 pounds.

The other nice thing was my hA1C was 6.3!

This is another glorious milestone!

I can only hope I improve both.

My first family MD told me to test my blood sugar twice a day on two different days. I took his advise of testing first thing in the morning on Tuesday and Thursday. My VA Doc changed the second "testing time" to two hours after I finished eating dinner. My three family MDs since 2004 and various VA Docs have agreed with this testing plan.

Kathie is now type 2 as well and is testing on Monday and Thursday. So, I am now testing those days as well.

lateI checked the blood about 15 minutes late.

* I could not sleep so about 4 am I got up, ate small amount of dark chocolate chips, drank some water and was asleep immediately after my head hit the pillow.

T I had too many carbs on Thanksgiving and had a gin-n-tonic after dinner. It simply would have been too confusing to figuring when two hours after "putting fork down" happened.

156 I think I may have had a fever overnight but feel OK now.

121This 121 is due to speghetti last night.

v The fat in my dinner had me vomiting a couple of hours after I went to bed.

newAM 74//93 PM 109

I started using my new meter and decided to cross check with the old meter. My Old meter told me "74" this morning and the new meter said 90. I am going to contact the manuyfactor and ask if I should calibrate the new meter. Odd thing: they sent the calibration fluid but not the instructions...

Fortunately, the Livongo web page has good instructions for using the calibration fluid. Oddly, they were basically the same as the other meters I have used.

@I think I can blame the high score on the "wild rice" I had for dinner.

HI do not understand how an evening core of 86 can go to 169 by morning. I truly do not understand this blood sugar shit!

23 Another morning with a Ridiculously high morning score. I had bad insomnia.

26 I feel a bit hungry and this is my best morning score in qutie a while. I must have been getting over something...

VI had a beer with dinner and two gin-n-tonic. About the time I was finishing the 2nd gin-n-tonic , I realized I was not going to keep any of it down. So, I quietly went to the back bathroom, bend over and lost my dinner and both gin-n-tonics.

I had tried to remove the grease from the hamburger but I suspect I did not get enough of it.

11  I felt so hungry I could not sleep so about 4:30 am I ate some dark chocolate chips. I remember thinking "I'm heading for the 40s." So, a sore of 57 was no real surprise.

18 I forgot to take my pills this morning and if I had, my evening score would have probably been lower.

*I woke up with severe indigestion 3 times and took Tums. I aso ended up with leg cramps 4 times. Then, because Kathie is going back to work today, she got up at 7 am and I slept in ti almost 7:15 am! I took my temperature about a half hour after getting out of bed and it was 97.5℉. While this is almost "normal" for me, it is not a "fever".

LI felt so crappy that I had to check my blood sugar (it was 80). The next morning, I felt fine yet my fasting blood sugar was lower (74). I simply do not understand blood sugar or diabetes!

bladder story 3

Today is the day I went to the hospital to have my kidneys ultrasounded.

I had to get up at 6:30 am and then check my blood sugar (86, I was happy!).

It snowed overnight so I was not thrilled about that. I went outside and immediately realized the snow was dry powder. I just used a broom to brush the snow off. It took longer to do the windshield once I came back outside to go to the hospital.

After waiting several minutes for the defroster to clear off the windshield, I took the windows scrapper and got the windows cleared almost immediately. That took away my last excuse to delaying and I backed out.

Due to the dry snow, I did not have much trouble leaving the cul de sac. Once on the main road, the road was icy and the number of cars was much greater than I had expected. Still, I made it to the hospital without a problem

There was just enough of the lines visible in the hospital parking lot that I parked, reparked and reparked a third time before thinking “screw this” and I went into the hospital.

I went to the required sign in place, read where it said “just write in name” and then filled in the line of info because the person ahead of me did. Oops!  The clerk came out of her office and said “just write in your name”. It was too late by the time she spoke…

I was finally called in to see the check in clerk and had to present my driver’s license and Medicare card. I guess they have to check this every time.

I was eventually escorted to the ultra sonde room.

I was positioned on a table, told to pull my shirt up and “no, do not pull your pants down”. I did this.

Then, the technician had me hold my breath while she scanned my right kidney perhaps 10 times. This seems a bit excessive.

She then scanned my left kidney twice. This made the scanning of my right kidney seem excessive. However, she did not invite questions so I decided I would be patient…

The radiologist was going to scan the results today and sent them to Dr. Azzanni, who would decide when and what to say to me. Oh, well, he has the phone numbers and email addresses…

I guess I can only be patient…

bladder story 2

Urology Visit part II

I thought my Urology Visit was for 10:40 am but started getting the fear it was for 9:40 am. I went to the Urology office and was told it was 10:40. I was happy to return home and watch some TV.

I went back to the Urology Clinic getting there about 10:26 am. I was then sent to wait.

Waiting over, I was weighed, blood pressure and body temperature taken and I started waiting.

Eventually, the Nurse did the temperature and blood pressure check was over and both RN and MD used their portable ultrasound to determine my bladder was much smaller. There was no mention of putting a catheter in.
I suggested the improvement was probably due to me being back on the pills again.

The MD said there was one more thing to check. He told me he wanted an ultrasound of my kidneys. If my kidneys are going bad, then he would recommend enlarging my urethra where it went through my prostate. This would require a procedure “using knives” to increase the size of my urethra there.

bladder story 1

I went to my Urologist Dr. Faris Sabri Azzouni MD. I expected the usual finger up the ass to check prostate and a prescription refill. Boy, was I ever in for a surprise!

The Nurse asked me what my symptoms were. I told her dribbling after peeing and needing to pee urgently. She had me sit on the bed, pull my pants down and did an ultra sonde scan. Then, she left to speak with the MD.

He talked with me and I told me about having to pee within 3 to 5 minutes after I felt the urge. I also told him about dribbling after peeing. He did an ultra scan (with a handheld device) and told me “your prostate in nosing into your bladder”.

He said my bladder was very stretched out and that was a very bad thing. He wanted to put a catheter in. I talked him into letting me go with a week of pills and he said to come in next Moanday.

When I discussed this with Kathie, I had the realization that an additional week of pills would be futile. I fully expect to be fitted with the damned catheter this coming Moanday.

Kathie told me to just get it done. She also said I needed to get accustomed to the idea of a catheter. She is right!

If the catheter does not work, then Dr. Accouni will go up my urethra with “knives” and widen the urethra where it goes through bladder. I would be unconscious.

Damn right I’ll be out!

There ain’t no fucking way I would be able to lie still under a local while someone is slicing and dicing with knives put up my urethra.

Well, the catheter is intended to let me bladder shrink back to “normal size”.

I don’t know what the aftermath will be. I really do not want to have blood moving into the urine and then seeing it come out in the pee bag. That could be a real complication and one I am not looking forward to…

My Father had a prostrate problem but did not tell me anything about this. (I guess not even my Mother could believe I would someday be old enough to suffer this prostate problem.)
Whatever it was, I will have my own path into the darkness…

February 2020

My first family MD told me to test my blood sugar twice a day on two different days. I took his advise of testing first thing in the morning on Tuesday and Thursday. My VA Doc changed the second "testing time" to two hours after I finished eating dinner. My three family MDs since 2004 and various VA Docs have agreed with this testing plan.

Kathie is now type 2 as well and is testing on Monday and Thursday. So, I am now testing those days as well.

outI used my last test stripe this evening. I emailed the VA asking for an early refill of the test stripes and got back a note saying the nurse had sent a note to the doc. I checked and did not find any evidence that a refill had been sent out. I checked with my usual phrmacy but they could not refill it. SO, day after tomorrow I will ask the Dillions' pharmacy if they can refill for a reasonable price (assuming the VA does not come through for me in the meanwhile).

 I can hope...

vomitus ergo sum Once again, the gravy probably had too much fat in it...

cA score this high had to be caused by the Chinese Fud we had last night...

a These are surprisingly low figures. I guess i won't be "going on the needle" any time soon. Also, Kathie got serious and this has lead to me getting serious.

b It could have been lower except I ate some dark chocolate around 2:20 am to stave off hunger.

c Something made me sick and I was vomiting after sleeping for about an hour. Once this was over, I felt fine. I wonder if it was the leftovers that did me?

Given the "scores" I have been getting since Kathie got on board with reducing blood sugar by diet, I sincerely doubt I am due for "the needle" any time soon!

Kathie has suffered high morning scores and  lower evening scores. I have varied from high morning scores to low morning scores and I suspect it has to do with what I had for dinner the night before...

dI have not consumed much carbs today. Also, I am about out of test stripes and can not afford to test again tonight.

post impeachment reactions

Well, "The Donald" got impeached and I am relieved this little nightmare is over.

So, now it is up to the Senate to perform their sworn duties. (I fear they will not.) Based on Moscow Mitch saying he is "not impartial" makes me think the fix is in.

So, what can "The Donald" do beside whine and bitch on tweeter?

It occurred to me "The Donald" could sue the House to have the Impeachment overturned in court. This does not possible but I did not think "The Donald" could avoid an iron clad law requiring income tax returned to be given to House Committee Chairmen/women if asked for...

It would be an interesting event as I don't think Speaker Pulaski would give in to this kind of reaction.

December 2019

My first MD after I was diagnosed as a type 2 diabetic told me to test my blood two days a week. On that day once upon getting out of bed and then 2 hours after "fork down" that evening.

I initially was testing Tuesday and Thursday, mostly because of my rotating watch (work) schedule. Now that Kathie has drifted from pre-diabetic to T2D herself, I am testing on her schedule (Monday and Thursday).

*I was surprised by a morning score this high! I had a very light dinner last night and kept waking up hungry. Finally, I got out of bed, drank some water and ate some dark chocolate chips.

2 My evening "score" is low because I had a salad for lunch and the salmon and broccoli for dinner.

b I kept waking up hungry and ate a couple of dark chocolate chips; this killed the hunger but apparently jacked my morning "score".

cThis is a lot lower than I had expected!

d I kept waking up feeling very hungry and finally ate some dark chocolates. They worked.

*After a score of 84 the night before, I was curious what my "score" would be the next morning. I didn't feel hunger during the night which puzzled me. I expected my morning "score" to be in the 60s.

I was surprised to find it was 73; this is a low normal "score" for me. Once again, I have to admit I do not understand blood sugar...

2 I wonder how this could be so high given we had salmon and asparagus last night.

an excessively high morning score

I slept solidly all night and not even the morning twilight woke me up. Kathie getting out of bed and going to the head is what got me awake.@@I didn't feel hungry and that earned me I'd be seeing a dosey of a Thursday AM blood sugar score. I did; it was 134 mg/dL!@@Normally, my morning blood score is from just over 70 mg/dO to the 90s.@@I fear it had everything to do with my dinner last night. More to the point, the Apple crisp, piece of chocolate cake and 12 oz (or so) bottle of "real" Coors I had during the Boot Hill Variety Show.@@Simply put, a score of 134 mg/dO is an "on shit" moment for me. For those poor bastards, the long duration type ones (D1T), it is a very low and desirable score. The envy of the few I have reported this score to make me wish to keep my mouth shut in the future!@@@@Now that Kathie is required to test her blood sugar twice a day, twice a week, she has been remarkably reluctant to open her meter box, calibrate it if needful and take the plung! (i.e. Poke her finger and read that blood!@@U think she has cornered herself and will do test one of day one this coming Moanday!@@Actually, having said this, I suspect Kathie will find reasons to chicken out Moanday Morning! (I hope I am wrong.)@@Kathie will be testing her blood upon awakening and "an hour or two after finishing dinner" Mondays and Thursdays. I plan on switching from Tuesday and Thursday to Monday and Thorsday.@@@It could be interesting and I hope we don't get into a "blood levels contest".
