despair replaced by "the possibility of hope"

In an earlier post, I expressed despair about my A1C. I've had revelations that controlling my carbs will actually reduce my blood sugar amount. (Why I rebelled against this now seems inexplicable to me.) So, having had morning hypoglycemia due to low carbs the night before has made me a convert to "monitor your carbs"!

My title of "the possibility of hope" was stolen from a line in an episode of "Babylon 5". B5 was one of the last TV shows I've thought was truly worth watching...

I also lost eight (8!) pounds in the past three months!

There is hope for me!

AM represents my morning blood sugar reading immediately after getting out of bed.

PM represents my evening blood sugar reading 2 hours after I cease eating my evening meal.

I ate a very small meal the evening of the 8th (piece of catfish and asparagus) and started feeling weak a couple of hours after finishing dinner. I checked my blood sugar and it was a 65! So, I scrounged around nibbling and finally went to bed. I don't know what I peaked out at but I dropped to 65 by the next morning.

On the 11th, I had chicken and broccoli for dinner and that lead to the evening score of 77. I'll have to keep this in mind when I discuss my A1C with my VA Doc and family MD.

A1C and fasting scroes mid May 2017

The VA sent me a letter telling me that my A1C was 7.3 and my fasting blood sugar was 131. I now realize that if I had eaten meat and veggies the night before, I might well have had a much lower fasting score.

I will remember this before the next A1C test.

My VA Doc was pleased with these scores.

dispair (again)

The VA drew blood this morning and will test it for A1C and cholesterol. I can only hope this went well. My blood sugar is getting too high in the evenings!

I am resigned to eventually going on insulin; I am not resigned to being used as a cash cow by the fucking pharmaceutical industry!
